In modern cheese dairies, all manual labor has been replaced by mechanization. There are various reasons for this, such as energy and sustainability, occupational health and safety, quality, hygiene, and also cost reduction through higher productivity per employee.
In the KLOKSLAG production systems, the mechanization of cheese mould & lid handling is specifically tailored for:
- Type of cheese mould (manufacturer, material type)
- Dimensions (single mould or multi-mould)
- Capacity of the line; from 1,000 to 15,000 kilograms of cheese per hour
- One or multiple dimensions
- Flying over (yes or no)
- Drain and forming machine (continue / discontinue)

Additionally, consideration is being given, with the machinery directive (CE) in hand, to how to achieve an optimal layout in an existing building or a new building.
Similar to cheese presses, it is possible to choose open or closed systems for cheese mould and lid handling. Closed systems have the advantage that they can be CIP cleaned and do not impose a load (moisture and temperature, dry floor) on the climate in the cheese dairy.
The KLOKSLAG equipment for cheese mould and lid handling is controlled and monitored (tracking and tracing) based on a concept developed by de Klokslag Automatisering BV for cheese dairy controls. This control aims for maximum line capacity and process control.
